Two UNESCO-level sites in one day: This tour uniquely combines Salda Lake — a rare crater lake described as the Maldives of Turkey — with Pamukkale’s white travertines and the ancient city of Hierapolis, all in a single full-day excursion. Salda Lake — the Maldives of Turkey: Known for its turquoise water and brilliant white shoreline (caused by hydromagnesite stromatolites), Salda Lake is one of only two such lakes in the world. NASA referenced it during Mars research due to its similarity with the Jezero crater. Swimming is permitted — the lake is deep at the centre but shallow at the shores. Karahayıt Red Water (optional): A natural mud bath in iron-rich hot springs at 60°C, producing vivid reddish terraces — a striking contrast to Salda’s blue-white scenery and Pamukkale’s white terraces. Available on site as an optional add-on. Salda Lake vs Pamukkale-only tour: The Salda Lake tour covers the same Pamukkale and Hierapolis itinerary as the standard Pamukkale tour, but adds the full Salda Lake stop at the start of the day. It departs 30 minutes earlier (03:00 vs 02:30) and runs 7 days a week instead of 3. Swimwear is essential: Guests who wish to swim in both Salda Lake and the Pamukkale natural pools should bring swimwear, a towel and slippers for both stops. The thermal pools at Pamukkale require bare feet on the travertines. |
